Asking ChatGPT to be my life coach

By October 14, 2026No Comments

In general AI models are terrible life coaches, because they’re NOT life coaches.

This time, inspired by Joe Hudson’s Art of Accomplishment coaching session samples, I tried a new approach.

I turned on ChatGPT’s voice mode (the mode where you basically talk to it back and forth), and gave it very simple instructions: that I want to do a coaching exercise, and that I don’t need it to coach me, but just help me go deeper and deeper.

And it did!

I tried this for two different issues, and although I sometimes had to point it in a better direction when it was going astray, I was very satisfied with the experience

Areas I worked on:

  1. Pressure to achieve more
  2. Pressure to “earn” money

Lessons learned:

  1. You don’t have to accomplish anything in order to love yourself.
  2. The world is full of disproportionate rewards and gifts. Instead of being guilty for everything you receive, learn to receive graciously.
